The wood is dark, hard, dense and tight-grained – prized by woodworkers for its strength, grain and color.

The word UURTO can refer to a mark, scratch, or groove on a surface. It can also refer to something related to water, such as a current or a wave. in northern lapland, uurto is the word used for a row of trees growing in the tundra.
