hokorobi coat

39,000kr.

“Hokorobi” (綻び) translates to “fray,” or “unravel,” – often used to describe the delicate, fleeting beauty found in the gradual breakdown of material or structure.
In a biological context, hokorobi can represent growth processes that lead to shedding or transformation, such as the delicate velvet covering of antlers that eventually peels away as the antlers harden.

the noble-like shoulder decor is a homage to the beautiful antler-bearing moose being the national animal of svart’s then-home country sweden.

the panels of this piece are hand dyed with various techniques, all using coffee waste as the main dye. the darker parts are made by using rusty iron and other organic waste materials.

the coat has zipped inseam front pockets and svart’s signature excessively elongated sleeves.
