hand carved ring made out of repurposed walnut wood, adorned with six freshwater pearls.
walnut is dark, hard, dense and tight-grained – prized by woodworkers for its strength, grain and color.
The word PEURAKKA is used in northern finland to describe a a long-legged, timid or shy reindeer.
“after carving the wood, i instinctively felt that it needed pearls. it surprisingly became kind of reminiscent of barnacles growing on the ocean floor, on sea creatures or on wooden ships. this has happened before – when i am working with forest themes – my mind is subconsciously somehow pulled back into the ocean. this ring is my cervidae-ocean-creature-hybrid.”
delivered in a hand made svartbysvart-branded wooden box.
